HumeHEALTH Web Portal Upgrade

HumeHEALTH Web Portal has over 50 participating health services and projects with in the system or linked from their external Web sites.

Originally, in 2001, a key objective was to establish a health information portal which would ensure the opportunity for all health services in the Hume region to be linked and share the cost of Web development and related infrastructure and promotion.  It is now recognized that HumeNET Health Alliance provide a multidimensional Web based information, communication, and education function offering flexible options for our members and customers.

We will be launching our latestbupgrade in late November so keep your eye on www.humehealth.com.au

"Telemedicine in Victoria"

Victorian Health Service Management Innovation Council

For the purpose of this report, the term telemedicine is defined as:

The use of communicationand information technologies to remotely manage, deliver, enhance or access health services.

Early this year the Victorian Health Service Managerment Innovation Council  commissioned a report to give an overview of the current state of telemedicine in Victoria.  HumeNET have been actively involved in the development of the report and would now like to establish a focus group to drive telemedicine policy and HumeNET board recommendations.

Farewell to Karen Pirie

Words from our members and customers:

“Nothing was ever too much trouble!”, “Inventive, accommodating, thoughtful, creative, a very lateral thinker, friendly, responsive, willing to support in every way possible, open to all possibilities……….!”  “Great taste in shoes!”

Karen is the kind of person who you just do not want to loose from your team so we a very happy to be able to say that while she will be leaving her position as Web and Extranet Administrator Karen will still be available through 2008 to offer Web administration and training support to all on a contractual basis.

So it is not really farewell just thank you Karen for your dedication in setting up the HumeEXTRANET from scratch and very fine support of our members and customers.

New “Hop Off Points” with HumeNET IP Telephony now saves you MORE $$ on MORE CALLS…

For the past three years HumeNET Broadband agencies have been able to make calls to Melbourne for local call rates.  Now agencies* can make calls to Wodonga, Wangaratta, Benalla, Shepparton and Seymour also for the cost of a local call. Maryann Howard, HumeNET’s IP Services Manager, explained, “if a nurse at Seymour Hospital calls a specialist in their rooms at Shepparton, this call used to be STD, now it’s a local call.”

* hospitals with PABX’s some work is still required on the PABX to enable this service.

Video Conferencing Project – FREE On Net calls across Rural Victoria

At the next HumeNET ICT Champion’s Forum, IP Services Manager, Maryann Howard, will be running a special video conferencing information session.

Maryann will be explaining the new initiative which is twofold, firstly to upgrade the network to improve reliability and secondly to enable FREE On Net Video Conferencing across Rural Victoria.

The five Rural Alliances have been working with Dimension Data for some time now to establish a new infrastructure where the Rural Alliances are able to share a common hierarchical “gatekeeper” facility.  Hospitals in the South West Alliance (SWARH) are currently using this system and some of the major metropolitan hospitals will also be participating in this new shared platform.
